Central heating

The central heating installation generally comprises water radiators connected to a boiler (wood, gas, fuel oil) they are connected by a network of pipes.

There are three types of networks:

  • the twin-tube network
  • the monotube network
  • the octopus network

The two-pipe installation:
This is the most common installation. It consists of two piping circuits:

  • The first circuit supplies the radiators with hot water.
  • The second circuit recovers warm warm water to return it to the boiler where it is reheated before returning to the circuit.
  • This type of installation allows better regulation of the system thanks to the possibility of installing thermostats.

The monotube installation:
This means that the pipes of the network form a single loop that runs throughout the house. The water passes through all the radiators before returning to the boiler where it is reheated. The weak point of this installation is that the water gradually loses heat and is therefore less hot in the last radiator. It is therefore preferable to install a larger radiator to ensure the heating of the latter room. It is also impossible to install thermostats on this type of network.

Octopus installation:
This system is new and has been made possible by new materials. They are indeed cheaper and easier to handle. It thus makes it possible to multiply the circuits and the connections, without necessarily having to carry out the work of welding, often very delicate.
